Exodus 34:2-3
The morning watch is essential. You must not face the day until you have faced God, nor look into the face of others until you have looked into His.
You cannot expect to be victorious, if the day begins only in your own strength. Face the work of every day with the influence of a few thoughtful, quiet moments with your heart and God. Do not meet other people, even those of your own home, until you have first met the great Guest and honored Companion of your life - Jesus Christ.
Meet Him alone. Meet Him regularly. Meet Him with His open Book of counsel before you; and face the regular and the irregular duties of each day with the influence of His personality definitely controlling you every act.

He Watches Me
God takes the time to speak to me—even when I don't think He has anything to say.

Encouragement
Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.
Luke 14:13–14
What might it mean for you to "invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind" into your life? Do you tend to socialize only with those who are like you, who can pay you back in some way? Do you even know any "downtrodden" people? These are challenging questions for some of us! In addition to exhorting us to reach out to the unlovely, these verses also teach us to have an eternal perspective on all we do. When we live for eternity, the now shrinks into true perspective. When we please God rather than other people, we also gain a true perspective.

God Will Send A Saviour
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:13 KJV
And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a savior, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
Isaiah 19:20 KJV
Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me.
Isaiah 45:21 RSV
Salvation
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Our salvation was infinitely costly to God but it is absolutely free to us.

Trust
Trust in the Lord! Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones.
Proverbs 3:5-8 NKJV

Light
Now you are light!
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible.
This is why it is said:
"Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."
Ephesians 5:8-14 NIV

Humble
Instead, take the lowest place at the foot of the table. Then when your host sees you, he will come and say, "Friend, we have a better place for you!" Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Luke 14:10–11
Jesus tells us not to seek our own honor, but to humble ourselves and let others honor us. How might this principle work out in your family life? Are you content to serve others and let them honor you? Can you be happy with whatever honor you're given? What about in business—how might this work out in the work arena? Must you "toot your own horn," or is it enough to do your job well and let others honor you? Jesus gives much to ponder here, for it runs so counter to our culture.

Giving
When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
Mathew 6:3
God sees the giver as well as the gift; the heart as well as the hand.

Poems
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower."

Getting into God's stride
Genesis 5:24
The test of a man's religious life and character is not what he does in the exceptional moments of life, but what he does in the ordinary times, when there is nothing tremendous or exciting on. The worth of a man is revealed in his attitude to ordinary things when he is not before the footlights
(cf. John 1:36). It is a painful business to get through into the stride of God, it means getting your second wind spiritually. In learning to walk with God there is always the difficulty of getting into His stride; but when we have got into it, the only characteristic that manifests itself is the life of God. The individual man is lost sight of in his personal union with God, and the stride and the power of God alone are manifested.
It is difficult to get into stride with God, because when we start walking with Him we find He has outstripped us before we have taken three steps. He has different ways of doing things, and we have to be trained and disciplined into His ways. It was said of Jesus - "He shall not fail nor be discouraged," because He never worked from His own individual standpoint but always from the standpoint of His Father, and we have to learn to do the same. Spiritual truth is learned by atmosphere, not by intellectual reasoning. God's Spirit alters the atmosphere of our way of looking at things, and things begin to be possible which never were possible before. Getting into the stride of God means nothing less than union with Himself. It takes a long time to get there, but keep at it. Don't give in because the pain is bad just now, get on with it, and before long you will find you have a new vision and a new purpose.
